Introducing Triassic Pinot Noir 2024: The Latest Vintage from Lympstone Manor Estate

As the Devon wine scene continues to flourish, Lympstone Manor Estate is proud to announce the release of its much-anticipated Triassic Pinot Noir 2024, an elegant, small-production still wine that beautifully captures the character of our vineyard and the unique conditions of the 2024 growing season.

Named after the Triassic period, during which the estate’s distinctive soils were formed over 252 million years ago, this exceptional Pinot Noir reflects both the heritage of the land and the craftsmanship behind every bottle. Produced using all three Pinot Noir clones planted in the vineyard, the 2024 vintage is a true expression of place, patience, and precision.

The 2024 growing season brought a number of challenges for still wine production, with persistent rainfall and cooler temperatures throughout the year. Yet, against the odds, the vineyard produced fruit of remarkable quality. Harvest took place unusually late, on 1st November, allowing the grapes to develop complexity and balance naturally, achieving 11.5% ABV without chaptalisation, a testament to the resilience of both vine and viticulture team.

With only 480 bottles produced, Triassic Pinot Noir 2024 is limited release and an opportunity for wine lovers to experience an expressive Pinot Noir crafted with care from vineyard to bottle.

Winemaking followed a gentle, hands-on approach throughout. After a three-week fermentation in stainless steel, the wine underwent twice-daily hand punch-downs during maceration before being transferred to French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and maturation. Aged for 12 months in used French oak and left on its lees for added texture and depth, the wine was clarified through careful settling and racking rather than heavy filtration, preserving its natural character and elegance.

The result is a beautifully poised Pinot Noir with a distinctly cool-climate profile. Aromas of bramble fruits, fresh earth, and savoury mushroom rise from the glass, while the palate reveals silky layers of blackberry, rosehip, black tea leaf, and a delicate touch of black pepper spice. Medium-bodied and supple, Triassic Pinot Noir 2024 offers freshness, finesse, and remarkable depth for such a challenging vintage.

The label itself features an illustration of the vineyard’s iconic wrought-iron gate, a subtle nod to the estate and the journey behind every bottle.

With Father’s Day approaching, Triassic Pinot Noir 2024 also makes an unforgettable gift for wine-loving fathers and father-figures. Whether enjoyed alongside a celebratory Sunday lunch or savoured by the glass, this limited-edition release is a thoughtful way to mark the occasion with something truly special.

For those looking to experience the wine at its finest, Triassic Pinot Noir 2024 pairs beautifully with refined seasonal dishes, particularly locally sourced lamb, duck, wild mushroom dishes, and aged British cheeses. Guests dining at Lympstone Manor’s Michelin-starred restaurant will have the opportunity to discover expertly curated pairings that showcase the wine’s elegance and depth alongside Michael Caines’ celebrated cuisine.
